It also has probably deterred others that are in the rap industry from coming out as LGBTQ, to avoid having your music being taken a part and scrunitised to see if there are any secret messages. In fact, due to the massive media hype around it, it’s probably made him even more incline to continue ‘keeping it a secret’. It doesn’t matter if he’s gay, straight, or anything else, he doesn’t owe it to anyone to annouce it to the world. To be in the public eye, you’re under constant scrutiny and criticism, so imagine what it must be like to have everyone analyse something as personal as your sexuality. As a straight person, I can’t even begin to understand how terrifying it must be. However, coming out can be an incredibly scary experience for someone.
While I think it would be great for him to officially come out, especially being a BAME in a world that has had a history of homophobia, he definitely as no obligation to. Everyone seems to be talking about Tyler, the Creator’s sexuality, with many speculating that he is in fact gay.
